As we know Diabetes is a major threat to global public health that is rapidly getting worse,and the biggest impactis on adult of working age in developing countries.Atleast 171 million people worlwide have diabetes.this figure is likely to more than double by 2030 t0 reach 366 million

What is Diabetes Millitus?
Diabeteas millitus is cronic metabolic disorder that prevents the body from utilizing glucose completely or partially.when we find fasting blood glucose (FBS)level more than normal or less than normal.normal rate 3,9-6,0 mmol/l 0r 80mg/dl-120 mg/dl.
acccording to the level and cause of DM we can find diffeerent type of diabetes..

Type 1 or insulin dependent diabetes millitus(IDDM) occur when the pancreas fails to make enough insulin.in this case insulin is not prodeced or very less insulin.
cuused by:
-there is no specific cause can be idntified
-Auto immune disorder.thatsway usually occure in childhood or addolence but can develop at any age.
-acccident,
-viruses

Type 2 or non insulin dependant diabetes millitus(NIDDM) occure when the body cell become resisten to insulin.this is more common to adult.in this case pancreas can produce insulin,so these people are able to control their blood sugar level trough weight control,regular exercise and well-balance diet

Gestational Diabetes Milllitus(GDM) is blood glucose level increase during pregnancy.the mather who does not have diabetes develops a resistence to insulin because of the hormones of pregnancy

Secondary Diabetes Millitus is occure during medication of steroid/thiazides or hormones (drug or chemicals)

How i knows that i have DM?
when you find this Innitial symptoms
  • increase thirst(poly dypsia)
  • increase urination(polyuria)
  • increase appetite(polypagia)
  • other possible symptoms are blured vision,skin iritation,or infection,weakness or loss of strength,and decrease healing capacity.
  • clinical labs data.


  • Screaning
  • A capillary blood glucose test
  • Normal range 4-6 mmol/L
  • urine dipstick-glycosuria.

  • according to Word Health Organitation 2006
  • Diabetes is blood glucose If fasting Glucose .7.0 mmol/l or post prandial 2 hours >11 mmol/l
  • Impaired Glucose Tolerance (IGT) if Fasting glucose ,7.0mmol/l and post prandial 2 hours .7.8 and<11.1>
